CNC - Cylindrical, & Universal OD/ID Grinding

The main advantage of CNC grinding, whether it is between centers or an OD/ID application, is the ability to perform multiple operations in one chucking. Our CNC Kellenberger grinders can not only grind an unlimited number of OD’s on a stepped shaft, but can also grind tapers by indexing the wheelhead in the same operation – thus achieving perfect concentricity while dramatically increasing our efficiency, and allowing us to reduce cost to our customers. Nowhere is this indexing wheelhead option more important than on parts that require the OD and ID to be ground. We can fixture parts in a number of different ways, and grind OD’s, faces (like rotary surface grinding), and ID’s without ever letting the part go! By utilizing this unique feature to its fullest extent, we have been able to hold tighter tolerances (we have measured OD/ID concentricity as tight as .000006” – 6 millionths of an inch!) and greatly reduce grinding costs compared with manual machines.
